Lockwood

Newton, MA

This project is an excellent example of how owners can make subtle changes that have a significant impact, personalizing and updating their homes. In this case, our clients initially asked us to help transform a raw attic space in to a new home office, lounge and pet space, but as the project got going, we were asked to help refresh the kitchen and living room.

The kitchen was given a more contemporary feel by adjust some of the cabinetry trim, replacing the backsplash and counter tops, adding a fresh coat of paint and installing new lighting. The command center and pantry were also updated with the same techniques, keeping the same layouts, but updating with surface changes to the existing cabinetry and finishes. In the living room, a little used wall of bookshelves was reimagined as a more focused showcase for selected art pieces and integrated media center - resulting in a calmer, more sophisticated room.

In the attic, LDa was able to create a bright modern office out of nothing, carefully hiding mechanical equipment, adding daylight with new skylights, and making a one-of-a kind “cat room” to provide practical, dedicated space for the family’s pets.
